When is the right time to begin a natural wellness routine for #children and #babies? This question comes up quite often and my answer always is, "The sooner the better." And... "It's never too late to begin."
I receive questions all the time pertaining to how people should feed their kids and the biggest question I receive again and again is, "My doctor told me I should be giving my child milk every day, so why should I take my child off of milk?" Medical doctors study very little to almost no nutrition. They receive about a two week course of nutrition over the entire span of medical schooling that they take. Medical doctors suggest milk because they understand that the milk has calcium, which in their eyes is great for the health of a growing child's bones. But the truth to this is that milk is very unhealthy for everyone and it is dangerous. Milk comes from a cow, so that it can feed its baby and grow it quickly. The amount of hormones that are in this milk was intended for the calf, not for a human body. It has far too many hormones in it and the human body cannot process it correctly. It wasn't designed for a human. Secondly, cows milk most often has a whole lot of chemicals and antibiotics in it. The chemicals come from a lot of the feed that the cows are given for food. The feed is sprayed with pesticides to keep bugs away and then the cows digest the feed, ingesting the chemicals which later goes directly into the milk they produce and then into your child's next bottle or glass of milk. The cows are also injected weekly with antibiotics because their teats are milked so often that they get infected and inflamed. These antibiotics are also passed into the produced milk from the cow and into your child's cereal bowl or glass of milk. So ditch the milk. If you're feeding your child proper nutrition, then they should be receiving calcium from their food or from any other type of multi-vitamin supplement you may be giving them. Drinking milk has been shown to cause allergies, inflammation, pain, auto-immune disorders and the list goes on and on. Proper nutrition is the key ingredient to keep your children healthy. Kids should be taught at a very young age that eating the right foods is important and we shouldn't be teaching our kids that it's ok to eat a bowl of colored fruity flavored cereal or chocolate sugary cereal, pop tarts, cookies, cakes, and junk foods if we want to teach them correctly.
Don't pay attention to those television commercials that tell you foods are loaded with added vitamins and minerals and fun for your kids at the same time. They are just leading you to purchase their products, but they don't tell you how dangerous some of the other chemicals are in the same exact foods that they just told you were so healthy because they added all these nutrients. These man-made chemical infested foods are a recipe for disaster in your child's health. Not even once in a while is it ok, unless you want to be sitting in the doctors office every couple of weeks with a cold, flu bug, allergies or maybe even something worse. Food can keep the body healthy, but it can also cause havoc quickly too.
Feed your kids plenty of raw organic fruits and vegetables. This is what they need to stay feeling great! Have them drink at least half of their body weight in ounces of water each day. Keep them hydrated. Don't offer kids fruity sweet drinks or any kinds of soda. They don't need it. Babies can also begin receiving clean filtered water or Spring water in their bottles as early as 4 weeks. This is one of the healthiest things you can do, but many people are afraid to do this. Your baby needs water even if you're breastfeeding or using formula. The insides of their bodies need to be cleansed too.
Make sure your kids exercise and get them outdoors to play. Sunshine offers an excellent source of vitamin D for the body and the exercise helps a growing body stay healthy.
Get your children to bed on time. A growing child till the age of 17 still needs 9+ hours of sleep each night. When your child is cranky in the morning or they are not doing well in school, take a look if they've gotten an adequate amount of sleep and make adjustments if necessary.
A lot of children are having trouble concentrating in school and even staying focused at home, so the parents will take them into the medical doctor for an evaluation and immediately the child is prescribed prescription drugs. If your child is having trouble concentrating or can't sit still long enough, more than likely they either don't have the right nutrition in their diet or they are not getting enough sleep or both. Most often they don't need a prescription drug which then can cause side effects and secondary illness. What they need is better nutrition, which does not include any junkie types of foods. Food dyes and sugary type foods are the number one cause for attention deficit problems.
Also if a child is acting out at home or at school, ask yourself if you're giving them enough of your own attention and love that they may really be needing. When parents are both working or have their hands full with too much stress, many times the children suffer, but then act out because they are not receiving the loving energy that they need from their parents. If this pertains to your situation, re-evaluate your life and get involved with your child more. Children grow up quickly and before you know it, they're off to college. It goes more quickly than you can even believe. Do your job right as a parent and put all the small stuff aside. Your children should always be your top priority over everything else.
Natural Wellness is more simple than most people make it out to be. It's the way God intended for us to live our lives. If you incorporate proper nutrition, sleep, exercise and love, you will be on the right road for delivering a healthy child into adulthood by the time they reach 18 years of age. Give them the right tools to be successful when they are little, because you're the parent and it's up to you to teach them correctly.
If your child is struggling with illness and you need more immediate help then homeopathic, essential oils, Reiki, aromatherapy, and natural herbs are all very good and supportive remedies. Please see a natural wellness practitioner before starting anything new and especially with babies under the age of 2 before self prescribing anything.
Light & Love,
Patty
